Vol. 143 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Alcohol Factories.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he will state what the Government's intentions are in regard to the alcohol factories and whether and when it is proposed to reopen them.

The industrial alcohol factories closed in July last following the withdrawal of workers owing to a wages dispute. The general question of the future of the factories is under consideration by the Government.

Can the Minister say when he expects to be able to announce the Government's permanent intentions in regard to these factories?

No. I would not like to give a forecast.

And the strike is to continue indefinitely?

They are two separate question altogether.

Has the Minister any hope of an early settlement of the dispute?

I understand that the unions concerned have again approached the Labour Court.
