Vol. 143 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Relief on Special Employment Schemes.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state how much money will be allocated for special employment schemes on (a) seasonable relief schemes, and (b) roads and other works during the present season.

As the Deputy is aware, sums totalling £637,800 are provided in the Estimate for Vote 10 for employment schemes and other works in urban and rural areas, as set out in sub-heads F, G, H, I, J. and K. The Government have now decided that an additional sum of £500,000 should be provided for these services from the National Development Fund. As far as possible, the works will be carried out during the winter and spring months.
