Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Affiliation to World Organisations.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he will indicate the world organisations to which the Republic of Ireland is affiliated.

As the reply to this question contains a long list of names, I propose with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to have it circulated with the Official Report.

The following is the list:—

A. Inter-Governmental Organisations.

1.International Labour Organisation.

2.International Civil Aviation Organisation.

3.Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations.

4.World Meteorological Organisation.

5.World Health Organisation.6.Universal Postal Union.

7. International Telecommunication Union.

8. International Wheat Council.

9. International Union for the Protection of Industrial Property.

10 International Union for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works.

11 International Bureau of Weights and Measures.

12 International Office of Epizootics.

13 International Committee of Military Medicine and Pharmacy.

14 International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (Rome).

15 International Criminal Police Commission.

16 Central Bureau for the International 1/1,000,000th Map of the World.

B. Organisations of which the membership is partly governmental and partly non-governmental and to which this country subscribes.

6. International Federation for Housing and Town Planning.

7. Permanent International Association of Navigation Congresses.

D. In addition to the foregoing, Ireland is a member of the following organisations of a regional character.

2. Organisation for European Economic Co-operation.

3. Customs Co-operation Council.

4. European Payments Union.

5. European Plant Protection Organisation.

6. International Council for the Exploration of the Sea.

7. European Broadcasting Union.

8. Commonwealth Agricultural Bureau (Associate Member).

9. Permanent Commission established by the International Fishing Convention, 1946.

E. In addition, Ireland participates in the work of the supervision and control of the distribution of narcotic and dangerous drugs carried out by the United Nations and bears a proportionate share in the expenses involved.
