Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water Supplies and Sewerage in County Wexford.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state what proposals he has at present from the public bodies in County Wexford for the installation of water supplies and sewerages.

The following works are in course of construction or have been approved:—

Installation of pumping plant at Edenvale Waterworks, Wexford; New Ross water supply improvements; new sewer from Newtown housing scheme to Distillery Road, Wexford.

The documents for the laying of a sewer at John Street, Wexford, have been approved and the submission of a bill of quantities is awaited.

Revised plans for the South Wexford regional water supply have beenapproved and the submission of full contract documents is awaited. Outline proposals for Enniscorthy water supply improvements have been approved.

In the case of Taghmon water supply, an application for a provisional Order under the Water Supplies Act, 1942, has been received and further documents thereon have been requested. The appointment of a consultant for Taghmon sewerage scheme has been approved.

Plans for a main drainage scheme for the town of Wexford have been prepared and the corporation have carried out those sections which were most urgently needed.
