Vol. 143 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fishery Conservators.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that complaints are frequently made by organised anglers and other fishermen about what they describe as the antiquated method of electing fishery conservators; and if he proposes to alter the regulations governing these elections so as to ensure fair representation for all interests.

I am aware of the complaints referred to by the Deputy and it is intended to review the system governing the election of conservators of fisheries when comprehensive legislation is being prepared to amend the fishery laws following the enactment of the Fisheries (Consolidation) Bill, 1952.
