Vol. 143 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Recent County Cork Fire.

asked the Minister for Justice if he has received reports regarding the presence of ammunition or other explosive materials in a house in South Cork which took fire recently; whether the reports in question have been investigated by the Garda Síochána; and, if so, if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am informed that the house was struck by lightning and went on fire. The only ammunition on the premises was a small number of sporting cartridgeswhich were lawfully held under the Firearms Act, 1925. There were also two cylinders of calor gas which were in use for household purposes. They did not explode.
