Vol. 143 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of County Wicklow Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission have acquired portion of the Cuffe lands, Westbroke, Rathnew, County Wicklow, for afforestation; and, if so, whether he is aware that all this land is arable; and, further, if he will now consider having the land divided amongst adjoining small-holders.

An area of 73 acres on this estate has been purchased by the Forestry Division for afforestation purposes, but since some demand has arisen for the division of that land among local applicants, it has been decided to review the whole matter before any planting is done.

Is the Minister aware that land suitable for afforestation has been offered to the Department by some land holders adjoining this area?

If the Deputy cares to send me particulars——

I have already sent the Department particulars.

I shall look into the matter.
