Vol. 144 No. 1

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Afforestation.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that an area of land at Keelnabrack Upper, Glenbeigh, County Kerry, is suitable for afforestation purposes; and, if so, if he will arrange for a survey of the district at an early date.

A survey of an area of 386 acres at Keelnabrack Upper was carried out in 1936. Inspection showed that the area was unsuitable for acquisition owing to exposure and poverty of soil. It was reported also that the area was held in common by 31 tenants only about half of whom were prepared to dispose of their shares.
