Vol. 144 No. 5

- Cork Sub-Post Office.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he is aware of the urgent necessity for providing a sub-post office and public telephone at Rathpeacon, Cork; and, if so, if he will have the necessary arrangements made.

The amount of postal business likely to be transacted would not justify the cost of establishing and maintaining a sub-post office at Rathpeacon. It is intended, however, to erect a letter box at Rathpeacon and to issue a stamp licence to a local shopowner.

In rural areas public telephones are provided only where there are post offices.

Is the Minister aware that in this particular locality there are over 183 families who are being denied the advantages of central postal facilities and public telephones at present?

Mr. Boland

I am sure the Minister is aware of that. However, I will draw his attention to the matter.

Might I ask if the Minister would pass the information on to the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs?

Mr. Boland

I will. I am sure he examined all that.
