Vol. 144 No. 5

- Rating Commission Proposal.

andJ. Lynch asked the Minister for Local Government if, in view of the continuing increase in rates and the inability of the ratepayers to pay these rates, he will set up a commission to examine the whole rating position with a view to making such financial and other alterations as are necessary to keep the local services going and to enable such a rate to be struck as will be within the capacity of the ratepayers to pay.

I do not think that any advantage would be gained by setting up a commission as suggested.
