asked the Taoiseach if he will state the total value of agricultural exports from this country during the year ended 31st December, 1953.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose taking Questions Nos. 5 and 8 together.

The value of domestic exports of agricultural produce, i.e., goods which underwent only agricultural processing but including all fresh, chilled or frozen meat during the year ended 31st December, 1953, was £59,356,590. The value of the domestic exports of manufactured goods during the year ended 31st December, 1953, was £44,290,889. This figure excludes all meat, fresh, chilled or frozen. Exports through the parcel post, goods temporarily exported or returned after temporary import and other special transactions are not included in either total.
