Vol. 144 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Diesel Rail Cars.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will ascertain from C.I.E. (a) if the trial runs of the diesel rail cars on the Bandon and West Cork railway have proved satisfactory and when it is proposed to put them into regular service, and (b) when it is proposed to try these cars on the Courtmacsherry line.

I understand that the trial runs of diesel rail cars on the Bandon and West Cork line were satisfactory and that it is the intention of C.I.E. to allocate the next set of rail cars for working on this section.

I am informed that diesel rail cars as at present constructed cannot work over the Courtmacsherry line as they cannot negotiate the curves on that line.
