Vol. 144 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - British Shipping Services and Dublin Cargoes.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will indicate the gross amount of cargo imported by British Railways (London, Midland Region) through the port of Dublin; and whether he has issued a carrier licence to the British Transport Board to operate in Dublin.

There are no statistics available of the amount of cargo carried to Dublin by the shipping services operated by British Railways. The answer to the second part of the question is in the negative. A licence under the Road Transport Acts is not required for the carriage of merchandise for reward in the area within 15 miles of the principal post office in Dublin.
