Vol. 145 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Erection of Shelters (Kerry).

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware of the urgent necessity for the erection of shelters, with all the necessary amenities, at the Reenard and Knightstown piers, to provide for the protection and comfort of residents on the mainland and on the island, as well as to afford facilities for tourists; and, if so, if he will request An Bord Fáilte to take the necessary steps, in conjunction with the local authority, to carry out the work.

Mr. Lynch

The matter to which the Deputy refers rests entirely within the discretion of An Bord Fáilte and I have no function with regard to it. I understand, however, that some time ago An Bord Fáilte made a proposal in the matter to the Kerry County Council, and that a reply is awaited.
