Vol. 145 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Flooding—Coast Erosion.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that a breach in the embankment of the River Lee, Tralee, is causing flooding to several acres of land at Ballyclunlea, Tralee; and, if so, if he will now state if his Department is prepared to allocate a grant from the National Development Fund to have immediate protection work carried out there.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that coastal erosion is destroying several acres of land at Lohercannon, Tralee, County Kerry; and, if so, if he will now state if his Department will allocate a grant from the National Development Fund to have protection work carried out.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 27 and 30 together.

No proposal for a National Development Fund grant for either of the works mentioned by the Deputy has been received from the Kerry County Council, and it is not clear that they have any responsibility in the matter.
