asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state when proposals for an extension of the sewerage system in Portlaoighise for the tenants of 28 houses on the Ridge Road were submitted for the sanction of his Department; further, if he will indicate the cause of the delay in this matter, and whether sanction will now be given for the immediate provision of this essential service.

Proposals for the provision of a sewerage system to serve houses at Ridge Road, Portlaoighise, were received in my Department on 29th August, 1953. Local inspection and detailed examination were required before a decision could be conveyed thereon. Detailed plans for the work have been approved subject to some modification and the submission of the remaining contract documents has been requested.
