Vol. 145 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Importation of Oats.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state (a) whether any oats have been imported into this country during the past nine months; and, if so, the price paid, and (b) what steps he proposes to take to clear surplus oats in the East Donegal area.

Mr. Walsh

During the nine months ended February last approximately 3,800 tons of seed oats were imported at a cost of £116,900. During that period no oats were imported for feeding or milling.

As regards the second part of the question, I would refer the Deputy to the reply which I gave to a similar inquiry from Deputy Hession on 1st April last.
