Vol. 149 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - New Paris Embassy Buildings.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he has had an opportunity of considering the recent purchase of new embassy buildings in Paris; and, if so, whether he will make a statement on the matter, indicating particularly their total cost and the proposed use to which they will be put.

I have considered the matter referred to by the Deputy and find that the position is that the purchase of the new embassy building in Paris was completed on the 14th May, 1954.

The price paid for the building, including certain fittings, furnishings, legal costs and bank charges, was £153,568 1s. 7d.

The premises will be used to provide offices for the embassy and residential accommodation for the ambassador and his family.

That is no fish barrel.
