Vol. 149 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Repair of County Kerry Road.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware of the necessity for repairing the road through the Glen, Ballinskelligs, which will link up important tourist centres, and whether he will allocate a special grant for this purpose under the tourist road grant scheme.

The responsibility for the maintenance of public roads in their area is primarily a matter for the local authority concerned. The tourist road grant available to Kerry County Council in respect of the financial year 1954-55 was allocated to specific works in April last.

The road mentioned by the Deputy was not included in this year's programme of works.
