Vol. 146 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Donegal Landing Facilities.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if a firm decision has yet been reached regarding the proposal to construct landing facilities for fishermen at Portaleen, County Donegal, and if he will make a statement in the matter.

A final decision has not yet been made as to the nature of the harbour improvements to be effected at Portaleen. I understand that following on discussions with representatives of Donegal County Council of the plans for shelter facilities drawn up by the Office of Public Works and which were not considered feasible on the grounds of cost it was arranged that the county council engineer would submit alternative proposals to provide shelter at lower cost. I understand that such proposals have not yet been received in the Office of Public Works.
