Vol. 146 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Slua Muirí.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the reason why a party of the Slua Muirí were not included in the crew of the Macha during the recent visit of the Irish Navy to continental ports.

The question of including a party of the Slua Muirí in the ship's complement for this cruise was sympathetically examined.

Having regard, however, to the number of young sailors of the Permanent Force to be catered for, the limited accommodation available and the infrequency of these cruises, it was reluctantly decided, in the best interests of the service, to confine the ship's complement on this occasion to regular personnel.
