Vol. 146 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Woollen and Worsted Imports.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state (a) the quota of woollen and worsted goods imported from the 1st June, 1953, to the 1st June, 1954, and (b) the Irish manufacturers of woollen and worsted goods who have export licences.

I understand from the Central Statistics Office that, during the period from 1st June, 1953, to 31st May, 1954, 2,416,598 square yards of piece goods made wholly or mainly of wool (including worsted) were imported.

As regards the second part of the Deputy's question, exports of woollen and worsted piece goods are not subject to control and manufacturers of these goods do not require to have export licences.
