Vol. 146 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Garda Síochána Rent Allowance.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state the amount of the allowance for housing accommodation payable to members of the Garda Síochána in Limerick City; whether he will investigate the possibility of erecting houses for the married members of the force in the city; and, if not, if he will re-examine the amount of the allowance with a view to increasing it to a more equitable sum.

The maximum rent allowance payable to sergeants and Gardaí in Limerick City is £48 8s. per annum. The question of increasing generally the existing rates of rent allowance and also the question of building houses for married members of the force are at present under consideration.
