Vol. 146 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ardee Girls' National School.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state the amount of the grant which will be made available for the proposed new girls' national school at Ardee; when the grant will be made; and when work on the building of the school is likely to commence.

My Department hopes to sanction a grant for the erection of the new school at an early date. It will then be necessary to have a lease executed vesting the site in trustees, and when this has been done it will be a matter for the Commissioners of Public Works to authorise the manager of the school to accept a tender.

I cannot say with any certainty when it is likely that work on the building of the school will be commenced.

The amount of the grant has not yet been fixed. It is, however, not the custom to publish particulars in any case of the amount of the grant or of the local contribution.
