Vol. 147 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sewerage and Water in Kerry.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state whether proposals for the provision of sewerage schemes at Ballinskelligs, Dunegan, Sneem and Rathmore, County Kerry, are under consideration in his Department; and, if so, whether provision will be made therefor in the Estimates for the coming financial year.

No proposals have been submitted to me for the provision of a sewerage scheme at Ballinskelligs or Dunegan.

Contract documents for Sneem sewerage scheme have been approved and the sanitary authority may invite tenders provided arrangements have been completed for the acquisition of the required lands by agreement.

The acceptance of a tender for Rathmore sewerage scheme has been approved.

I am not aware whether any revenue provision in respect of any of these schemes is required to be made by the county council in the coming financial year.

May I point out to the Parliamentary Secretary that there is a mistake in the question? It should deal with the provision of a water scheme at Ballinskelligs and not sewerage. I am sorry, but wherever the mistake occurred it can be rectified.

I suspected that. If the Deputy will put down the question again I will give him up-to-date information.

Thank you.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the cause of the delay in executing the demand for the extension of the Glenbeigh water supply to the Rossbeigh seaside resort.

Before a final decision could be reached on the outline proposals for this extension a definite indication was required as to the number of house connections to be made. This information has recently been furnished by the sanitary authority. Approval to the outline proposals will issue in the next few days.
