Vol. 147 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Meath Cow Plot: Rent.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the reasons for the increase in the rent charged for the grazing of cows on the cow plot at Creewood, Slane, County Meath.

The cow-park at Creewood on the Le Blond estate is vested in the trustees of a pasturage scheme since 1907. Under the terms of the scheme the trustees have power to fix the annual contributions to be paid by the persons benefiting under the scheme. The Land Commission have no function in the matter of the grazing rents to be charged by the trustees, but I am advised that the rents (in force) cannot be classed as exorbitant and are no more than sufficient to meet outgoings in the form of annuity, rates and maintenance of the trust lands.
