Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Afforestation.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state in respect of the Glenbeigh-Caragh district, County Kerry, (1) the acreage of land offered for afforestation, (2) the acreage surveyed, (3) the acreage considered suitable for forestry and accepted, and (4) the acreage rejected.

The total area of land so far acquired or offered for forestry purposes in the GlenbeighCaragh Lake district, County Kerry, is 3,296 acres. Four hundred and forty-three acres have been acquired in the district and negotiations are in progress for a further 99 acres. Offers totalling 534 acres are still under investigation and one offer of 70 acres recently received has not yet been inspected. The remaining 1,150 acres were found unsuitable on inspection and were rejected.
