Vol. 147 No. 5

Committee on Finance. - Agricultural Produce (Meat) (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill, 1954— Committee and Final Stages.

Sections 1 to 7 put and agreed to.
SECTION 8.

I move amendment No. 1:—

In sub-section (1), to delete in lines 52 to 54, page 3, "and examination, under Section 132 of the Public Health (Ireland) Act, 1878" and substitute "under any regulations made under the Health Act, 1947 (No. 28 of 1947)", to delete in line 5, page 4, "sanitary" and substitute "veterinary" and to delete in line 9, page 4, "Section 132" and substitute "regulations".

I think the reason for the amendment, which is of a purely drafting character, was that we had present to our mind when drafting the Bill the old Public Health Act, 1878, which had in fact been superseded by the Act of 1947, and it was therefore appropriate that we should use the terminology of the Act of 1947 rather than that of the old Act of 1878.

Amendment put and agreed to.
Section 8, as amended, put and agreed to.
Section 9, Schedule and Title agreed to.
Agreed to take remaining stages now.
Bill reported with amendment, received for final consideration and passed.
