Vol. 147 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Public Museum.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state how the upkeep and maintenance of the Cork public museum is financed; further, whether he has under consideration a proposal to make a capital grant and yearly grants available to maintain and extend the activities of the museum, and, if so, when a decision may be expected.

I am not in a position to give precise details of the financing of the Cork public museum, but I understand that it receives annual grants from Cork Corporation and from Cork County Council.

No proposal to make a capital grant and yearly payments from the Exchequer to maintain and extend the activities of the museum is before me at the present time, nor would I be in a position to consider such a proposal favourably.
