Vol. 147 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Inspectors of Prices.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state (a) the number of inspectors employed in the prices section of his Department, (b) the number of such inspectors who are operating in the Dublin metropolitan area, and with what frequency, and (c) the number who are specifically attached to the Prices Advisory Body.

There are no inspectors employed in the Prices Branch of my Department or specifically attached to the Prices Advisory Body. There are, however, 15 inspectors in the general inspectorate of the Department who are available, as required, for prices and other non-technical inspections. One inspector is stationed in Cork, one in Waterford and the remainder in Dublin. The officers stationed in Dublin are also utilised for inspection work outside the Dublin area.
