Vol. 148 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Annual Report of C.I.E.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will ascertain from C.I.E. the reason why its annual report and statement of accounts for the year ended 31st March, 1954, was not published until 3rd February, 1955, and if he will take steps to ensure that the future reports of this body are issued within a reasonable period after the end of the financial year.

The publication of the C.I.E. Annual Report and Statement of Accounts for the year ended 31st March, 1954, was delayed pending settlement of the reference to be made in the accounts to certain refunds of moneys due to the Exchequer. A statement about these refunds was made by the then Minister for Finance in his Budget speech in April, 1954. I do not anticipate that there should be any undue delay in the publication of the report and statement of accounts for future years.
