Vol. 148 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Performances by Hypnotist.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he is aware that at public performances a performing hypnotist has hypnotised citizens and permitted them to wander in the public streets in a hypnotised condition, and, if so, if he will prohibit or regulate such performances.

I am informed that on a few occasions some persons who had voluntarily permitted themselves to be hypnotised by a music hall artist remained under hypnotic influence for some minutes after they had left the theatres. The parties concerned are stated to have suffered no ill-effects and they made no complaints to the Garda.

Mr. Lemass

What about the electorate?

Is the Minister aware that on the occasion of one of these performances the people failed to find the leprechauns that the hypnotist promised?

Mr. Lemass

They even failed to find a reduction in the cost of living.

So the Deputy does not know even yet what hit him.
