Vol. 148 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Delay in Payment of Benefits.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether he is aware of the delays which occur in the payment of unemployment benefit and unemployment assistance in certain cases in Limerick City, and, if so, if he will take steps to obviate such delays.

I am not aware that delays, apart from the normal periods which must elapse for the making of inquiries in particular cases, are occurring in the payment of unemployment benefit or unemployment assistance in Limerick City. If, however, the Deputy will furnish me with particulars of any case of alleged delay, I will have it fully investigated and any remedial action shown to be necessary taken immediately.
