Vol. 148 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Children's School Bus Fares.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will request C.I.E. to consider issuing vouchers to school children for travel at reduced weekly rates on city bus services in order to alleviate the financial hardship suffered by families, who live long distances from schools.

Under the Transport Act, 1950, the board of C.I.E. may fix such fares as they think fit, and representations in this matter should be made direct to the board.

The Deputy is, no doubt, aware that school children pay only half the adult fare and that there are also special concessions for travel at mid-day.
