Vol. 148 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Retail Coal Prices.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he has yet completed his investigation into the retail prices being charged for the various grades of coal, and, if so, what action he proposes to take in the matter.

The position regarding prices and profits in the coal trade is kept under review and, as I informed the Deputy on 10th February, reports received by me do not indicate the necessity for the reintroduction of price control. If, however, I am furnished with definite evidence to show that the carrying out of a local investigation in any area would be justified, I will have the position examined further.
