Vol. 148 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Improvement Scheme.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will reconsider application number Galway 1390 A. for a rural improvement scheme, with a view to sanctioning that part of it which deals with bridge repairs so as to safeguard the applicants from isolation in the event of further flood damage to the existing structure.

As the applicants and the Deputy were informed on the 24th September, 1954, a scheme for the provision of improved access from the county road to the village of Glencorbet in the townland of Kylemore, County Galway, had to be rejected because the cost would be excessive in relation to the number of families served. On 10th instant an application was received for a grant for part of the work consisting of the construction of gullets and the repair of a bridge. I am making inquiries as to whether it would be worthwhile to carry out these works independently of the major scheme.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary be good enough to communicate the result of these inquiries to me?

I certainly will.
