Vol. 148 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal Pier.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he has yet reached a decision in regard to the proposal to improve Portaronan pier, Malin Head, and, if so, the nature of his decision.

Two proposals for the improvement of landing facilities at Portaronan have been received in my Office, viz. (a) the provision of a berth at the side of the existing pier and (b) the construction of a slip and boat yard at the elbow of the approach thereto. Of these the former is considered the more urgent and necessary and my Office is at present preparing a detailed plan and specification for this work which it is estimated will cost £1,280.

It is proposed to make an offer to the Donegal County Council of a grant of 75 per cent. of the cost subject to the usual conditions as soon as the plan and specification are available.
