Vol. 148 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage Schemes.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state, in respect of the Glyde and Dee and the Feale arterial drainage schemes, respectively, the average weekly number of persons employed (i) from 1st April, 1954, to 30th September, 1954, and (ii) from 1st October, 1954, to 31st January, 1955.

The answer is as follows:—

(i) Glyde and Dee 328; Feale 418;

(ii) Glyde and Dee 285; Feale 396.

asked the Minister for Finance whether the Brosna arterial drainage scheme has been completed, and, if so, what steps have been taken to appoint a staff to carry out the maintenance work provided for under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945.

Construction works on the Brosna catchment drainage scheme are virtually completed and arrangements are in hands for the issue of a certificate of completion under Section 13 of the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945. Certain key personnel at present employed will be retained for the maintenance work and such labour as may be required for that work will be recruited in the ordinary way.
