Vol. 148 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Maternity Grants.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state, in respect of Limerick City, (a) the number of applications made for maternity grants, (b) the number granted, (c) the number rejected, and the reasons therefor, and (d) the income of, and the number of persons in, the family of each rejected applicant.

Of 880 applications for maternity cash grants in Limerick County Borough up to 18th instant, 692 were granted, 161 were refused and 27 are still under consideration. The applications which were refused were so refused because the applicants did not satisfy the statutory requirements.

I do not feel that I would be justified in putting the local authority to the trouble and expense of extracting the information requested at (d) in the question.
