asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the number and total amount of grants made each year in respect of County Galway under the Undeveloped Areas Act, 1952, since its coming into operation.

I understand from An Foras Tionscal that, in the year ended 31st March, 1953, two grants, amounting to £26,000, were approved for projects in County Galway; that, in the year ended 31st March, 1954, one grant of £50,000 was approved and that, in the 11 months ended 28th February, 1955, two grants amounting to £36,000 were approved. No payment has yet been made in respect of these grants.
