Vol. 148 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Acquisition and Division.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the present position regarding the acquisition by the Land Commission of Mr. O'Dowd's lands, Cams, County Roscommon.

The owner's objection in this case has been listed for hearing on a few occasions but has not yet been decided due to owner's inability to attend.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the present position regarding the acquisition by the Land Commission of the nonresidential White farm situated at Brackloon, County Roscommon.

This estate has been acquired by the Land Commission.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have yet reached a decision to acquire the Satchwell lands, Creggs, County Galway, and, if so, when a scheme for the division of those lands is likely to be put into operation.

There is no change since the reply given by my predecessor on 31st March last.

Will the Minister state whether there will be any change in the next 20 years?

I think the Deputy knows by this time that the matter of acquisition is one for the commissioners and no matter how much myself or the Deputy may differ with the commissioners it is their ruling that counts.

I agree. The Minister should think of that when he is making statements outside the chapel gates.

I am not the Deputy who made statements outside the chapel gates.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring the Murray-Moore estate at Barne, Clonmel, for division among uneconomic holders, landless men and cottiers in the area and, if so, with what result.

The Land Commission have no proceedings for the acquisition of this estate but they are having certain inquiries made about it.
