Vol. 148 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Repair of County Dublin Road.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that the road used by the residents of the Ward estate, Leastown, Oldtown, needs to be repaired and, if so, if he will have steps taken to have it repaired.

The Ward estate was divided quite recently and the road referred to by the Deputy is being constructed, as a normal part of estate development works, for the service of the migrants' homesteads.

Work was interrupted in the winter months but will recommence very shortly.

Is there any chance, even at this late hour, that the Land Commission will consider putting down proper roads and not prairie tracks?

Is the Deputy referring to this road?

I am referring to this road and all other Land Commision roads as well.

The Deputy must take one or the other.

I will take this road. Is the Minister further aware that if a private developer is asked to develop any place he has to put a road to it and I am fed up with this State-subsidised body putting down bad roads?

Is the Minister aware that you are fed up?

Is the Minister aware that these roads are causing endless trouble all over the country?

Is the Deputy aware that I think this is not relevant?

With the gracious leave of the Chair, I wish to ask the Minister a further question. Will the Land Commission consider improving these roads in future?

This refers to one road.

Yes, that is right.

This road has not been made yet.

This road was made and it was supposed to be all right. Is the Minister further aware that some State machinery should be put in motion whereby these roads will be passed on to the county council?

Question No. 21.

With your permission, I propose to raise the subject-matter of Question No. 20 on the Adjournment.
