Vol. 148 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Mayo Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands whether, as a result of the price fixed by the Land Commission Court, it has been decided not to acquire the McKenna estate, Derryguillane, Curroy, Ballina, and, if so, if he will state (1) the price offered by the Land Commission, (2) the price fixed by the court, and (3) the total expenses incurred by the State in the acquisition proceedings.

The Land Commission have served notice of intention to withdraw from the proceedings for acquisition of these lands. An objection to the proposed withdrawal has been lodged but has not yet been listed for hearing before the Judicial Commissioner. The price offered by the Land Commission was £250 and the price fixed by the Appeal Tribunal was £475. It is not possible at this stage to reply to the third part of the Deputy's question.
