Vol. 149 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Gaeltacht Children's Grants.

asked the Minister for Education if, in regard to the grant payable in respect of children in the Gaeltacht areas, he will ensure that in future the necessary investigations by inspectors are carried out expeditiously and that payment is made promptly.

I am satisfied that, within the existing system for the payment of this grant, the necessary investigations are carried out expeditiously and that payment is made promptly.

I am, however, having the position examined with a view to ascertaining whether, by a change in the procedure, it might not be possible to arrange for earlier payment of the grant than the present procedure allows.
