Except where the numbers seeking admission are in excess of the numbers that can be accommodated it is not the practice for schools to keep waiting lists, and particulars as to the numbers of pupils on such lists are not normally supplied to my Department. As the Deputy has already been informed in reply to another question extra school accommodation is being provided in this area.

asked the Minister for Education what progress has been made in connection with the provision of proper school accommodation for the children of the Milltown-Farranboley district, County Dublin, what is the cause of the delay in erecting the required school, and when building operations will commence.

A suitable site has been offered by the reverend manager for new national schools to cater for children in the new housing area at Milltown-Farranboley, County Dublin, and the planning of the schools is well advanced.

My Department will not, however, be in a position to sanction a grant towards the cost of the new schools until certain arrangements have been made as regards the production of evidence of title to the proposed site. Owing to legal difficulties which had arisen these arrangements, in which my Department has no function, will take some time yet to complete, but I am informed that they are being dealt with as expeditiously as possible.

I am unable to say, at present, when building operations will be commenced.
