Vol. 149 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Potato Exports.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he received a resolution in October, 1954, from the Donegal County Committee of Agriculture advocating the freezing of exports of popular varieties of potatoes, and, if so, what action he has taken, or proposes to take, in the matter.

The answer to the first part of the question is "No". The second part, therefore, does not arise.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state, in respect of seed and ware potatoes of the 1954 crop, (a) the tonnage exported to date, and (b) the average price paid in respect of each variety.

The reply to the Deputy's question at (a) is 19,850 tons of seed and 25 tons of ware potatoes. The information requested at (b) is a matter for the Irish Potato Marketing Company which is the body responsible for the sale of seed and ware potatoes on the export market.
