Vol. 149 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - National Development Fund Allocations.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state (1) the total amount of moneys allocated to his Department from the National Development Fund, (2) the total amount expended to date and the nature of the schemes involved, (3) the total amount applied for by the Cork County Council and the amount granted to them, and (4) the list of the works sanctioned by him for such grants in County Cork.

Grants totalling £2.7 million were made available to my Department from the National Development Fund, and have been allocated to local authorities. The grants were comprised in block allocations for the following purposes:— Road works, £2.5 million; Local Authorities (Works) Act schemes, £0.2 million. Of these amounts, Cork County Council have received £237,000 and £30,000 respectively in grant allocations.

Apart from their share under the foregoing allocations Cork County Council submitted an outline of schemes totalling £2,420,000 which they considered might receive assistance from the fund.

What figure did you say was allocated for the purposes of the Local Authorities (Works) Act?

£0.2 million.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state (a) the total allocation from the National Development Fund being made available to the Sligo County Council for the financial year 1955-56, and (b) if he will give particulars of the schemes to be financed therefrom, which have been sanctioned by him.

No allocation has so far been made to Sligo County Council from the National Development Fund in respect of the year 1955-56.
