Vol. 149 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mental Hospital Employees.

asked the Minister for Health whether he has received proposals for salary increases for gatekeepers and domestics employed in the Limerick Mental Hospital, and, if so, if he will state the nature of his decision in the matter.

I have received an application for approval to the grant of increased remuneration to gatekeepers employed at Limerick District Mental Hospital. This application is being considered in conjunction with proposals for revision of remuneration for similar posts in other district mental hospitals.

A recent application for sanction to an increase in the valuation of emoluments for posts of assistant laundress and assistant cook at the hospital was not approved as the present remuneration applicable to these posts is considered not unreasonable.

asked the Minister for Health whether he has received a recommendation from the Managers' Association to adjust the salaries of storekeepers in mental hospitals, and, if so, if he will state the nature of his decision in the matter.

I have received no recent recommendation from the Managers' Association in this matter.
