Vol. 149 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wheat Statistics.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state in respect of each year since 1951 the acreage and quantity of wheat grown in this country, the average yield per acre, and the average price per barrel paid to growers.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a statement giving the information required.

Following is the statement:—

AREA; estimated total produce; estimated average yield per statute acre; and average price per barrel paid for green native millable wheat grown in each of the years 1951 to 1954.

†This represents the average price paid for green millable wheat and not necessarily the average price paid for all native wheat. Furthermore it is not the cost on the mill floor as it does not include, for instance, such additional costs as drying, storage, commission, etc., which have to be paid before the wheat is ready for milling.

‡Provisional.
