Vol. 149 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Wage Rate.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the indices for general wage rates and for the Dublin district wage rates as at January, 1955.

The index numbers of weekly rates of wages in the Dublin district for January, 1955 (base January, 1939=100) were: Industrial, 209.0; Services, 210.2; Transport, 218.7; All Groups (weighted average), 211.1. I regret that it has not yet been found possible to assemble the material for the production of the general index number of wage rates per hour in 23 industrial occupations. This index number should be ready in about a fortnight. The general index of transport earnings is not prepared until later in the year.
